Our series for young people...

Junior league is open to all young people in the club, including those who have attended a training course and granted annual membership and family members. To take a single-hander or helm a two-person boat, you should have completed the RYA Youth Stage Course 2 (Our base level training course)

The Junior League is here to provide a safe, fair and fun environment while letting you improve your skills and participate in a bit of competition. An RYA safety boat driver will take charge when necessary or if you encounter difficulties.  If you need help with anything from setting a boat up to launching, just ask - plenty of people are around to help.

Events are usually arranged so you can still take part if you can only make half a day, but please check the calendar for specific details.

What do you need to complete? Dress appropriately as you would for a training course and bring a packed lunch. If you are under 14, you should have an adult present (they can also be on the water or make use of the club facilities). The training boats are available for you to use and we will allocate these fairly on the day.

What does it cost? Junior league is free to members who meet the entry criteria.

When? Junior league will start at 10.30 and aims to finish around 15.30. We will have a morning and afternoon session with a break for lunch and take place on the following dates for 2024. Please double check our calendar for any last-minute changes as the calendar is much quicker to change than the website. For example if we need to cancel at short notice due to weather or other circumstances, this WILL be reflected on the club calendar.

Whats Next? from the Junior League you can either take more training or move on to tier 2 events in the club.

What about Adults?

We also cater for adults alongside the Junior League. We extend the same safety and organization to beginner adults who want to get on the water; you can take part in the events and sail alongside your Sons / Daughters or simply just enjoy it; if you are over 18, you just can't win anything other than the novices cup and bragging rites.

If you are bringing someone for the Junior League, why not get involved and have a go, too? Adults will need RYA level 1 or have passed the Junior Stage 1, and although we encourage everyone, this is not tailored to people who regularly take part in club racing.
