Junior league is open to all young people in the club, including people who have attended a training course and granted annual membership as a result and family members. To take a single hander or helm a two-person boat, you should have completed the RYA Youth Course, Level 2 (Our base level training course)
The Junior League is here to provide a safe, fair and fun environment whilst letting you improve your skills and take part in competitive events. It will be operated by the training team with closer support from an RYA safety boat driver. The safety boat will take charge when other river traffic is present and we will also help if you get into difficulties. The training team will ensure the event is fair and competitive in a fun manner. Junior League is not a training session and will be very informal.
You're also welcome to just come down and practice sailing during the times that safety is in place. The winner of each race will receive a certificate with a prize for the winner at the end of the season.
What do you need to complete? Dress appropriately as you would for a training course and bring a packed lunch. If you are under 14, you should have an adult present (they can spectate and have full use of our club facilities whilst on the water). The training boats are available for you to use and we will allocate these fairly on the day.
What does it cost? Junior league is free to members who meet the entry criteria.
When? Junior league will start at 10.30 and aims to finish around 15.00. We will have a morning and afternoon session with a break for lunch and take place on the following dates for 2023. Please double check our calendar for any last-minute changes as the calendar is much quicker to change than the website. For example if we need to cancel at short notice due to weather or other circumstances, this WILL be reflected on the club calendar.
This is a great opportunity to get some time on the water so please do support us.
